Notes

Adrian Tafari Mtungwazi, a Zimbabwean businessman who co-founded Adachi Disability Services in Australia, is facing serious allegations of financial misconduct. A liquidator’s report accuses him and his wife of misusing company funds, drawing millions in “director loans” to purchase luxury assets like a Ferrari, and funnelling money offshore.

The specific accusations include insolvent trading, owing over A$6.4 million to tax authorities and creditors, and using company money to buy a shopping centre in Bulawayo and establish a football club in Zimbabwe. Mtungwazi left Australia in May and has not communicated directly with investigators since.

The case has seen recent developments, including the escalation of legal action by the Australian Taxation Office, which is now personally suing Mtungwazi to recover over A$1.9 million in debts.

Furthermore, the liquidator alleges that in April 2024, the directors established new disability care ventures under different names, which is seen as an attempt to separate new business from the failed company. While his wife remains in Australia and is cooperating, Mtungwazi’s current location is unknown outside of the country. No criminal charges have been filed to date, but proven allegations could result in hefty fines and jail time.
