Today, Hon. Deputy Minister of Finance K. D. Mnangagwa officially opened the Steering Committee for the African Association of Internal Auditors General (AAIAG) in Vic Falls a milestone for governance & accountability across Africa.
Internal auditors are not just evaluators they are enablers of performance, guardians of public trust, & architects of institutional resilience. Their role is indispensable in building credible, accountable institutions.
The AAIAG will serve as a platform to:
-Standardize audit methodologies
-Strengthen audit independence
-Enhance capacity in data analytics & risk management
-Enable cross-border collaboration
The integrity of fiscal policies & sustainability of development programs depend on strong internal control systems. Internal audit must evolve from a reactive function to a strategic advisory role that informs policy & safeguards resources.
The Government of Zimbabwe firmly supports this initiative. Together, we mark a new era where internal audit is respected & relied upon as a cornerstone of African public sector excellence.
