PROFESSOR TALENT RUSERE OFFICIAL PUBLIC STATEMENT
25 September 2025
After careful consideration and a profound love for our nation, I have made the decision to join ZANU-PF (Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front). I am inspired by the party’s commitment to the liberation struggle objectives and its unwavering focus on achieving Vision 2030. My choice is rooted in a desire to actively contribute to the economic empowerment of all Zimbabweans, a cornerstone of our revolution. I believe that true patriotism lies in working tirelessly for unity, peace, and the sustainable development of our country. I will serve at the grassroots level, alongside my fellow citizens, to build a more prosperous future and ensure that the gains of our independence are realized by every Zimbabwean.
My patriotism is not a matter of blind allegiance, but a solemn promise to the party and the nation—a promise to work tirelessly for a brighter future of our beloved Zimbabwe. It is a commitment to seeing the common good in every citizen and recognizing that our nation’s true strength lies not in any single leader or group, but in our unity. We honor our past by learning from its complexities and build our future by committing ourselves to justice, dignity, and opportunity for every person. Our flag represents this promise, and our national anthem is a call to action. Let us move forward, not as members of different tribes or factions, but as one people, bound by our shared destiny and a collective belief that our best days are yet to come. To be patriotic is to honor the heritage that has brought us this far while courageously building the nation we know it can be. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, who fought for our independence and laid the foundations of our society. That legacy is a beacon, not a blindfold. It guides us to remember that our national story is a living one, constantly being written by every one of us. Our unity is not a given; it is a daily choice to celebrate our diversity, resolve our differences through dialogue, and ensure that our progress is shared by all. My loyalty is not to ZANU-PF ideology alone but to the health and well-being of our entire nation. Let us therefore reaffirm our dedication to a future where every child knows their country is a source of pride, safety, and limitless possibility.
I stand in unwavering support of the sacred ideals of our liberation struggle. The ultimate price paid by countless sons and daughters of the soil was for nothing less than the restoration of our national dignity, sovereignty, and self-determination. Today, those same principles guide our revolutionary mass party, ZANU-PF, as we continue the journey towards total economic emancipation. The land reform program, which restored our ancestral land to its rightful owners, is a direct fulfillment of the liberation struggle’s promise. In our pursuit of Vision 2030, we are building on that legacy to ensure that the wealth of this nation, its mineral riches, and its resources benefit all indigenous Zimbabweans. Let us protect and defend these hard-won gains against all forms of neo-colonialism and sabotage. Our collective duty is to honor our fallen heroes by ensuring that the freedom and independence they bequeathed us are secured for generations to come and that our nation continues on its irreversible path toward shared prosperity and peace.
I am proud to align myself with ZANU-PF’s Vision 2030 and its unwavering commitment to building a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society. This vision is a roadmap for our nation’s future, offering a pathway to economic opportunity and improved livelihoods for all Zimbabweans. I am particularly inspired by the focus on inclusive growth, ensuring that no one and no place is left behind. The emphasis on infrastructure development, including roads and power projects, is a critical step toward modernizing our economy and creating an environment conducive to business growth and job creation. As we build a new Zimbabwe, brick by brick, I commit to working with the party to uphold the principles of national development. Through dedication, discipline, and a collective focus on our economic goals, Vision 2030 will become a reality. We must put economic growth over political distractions and ensure that every citizen benefits from our nation’s vast potential.
Our collective vision for a prosperous Zimbabwe can only be realized on a foundation of peace and stability. The development we seek—the new roads, the modern infrastructure, the vibrant economy—is the harvest of our national unity and our commitment to resolving differences through dialogue, not division.
Let us not be distracted by those who seek to sow discord. We are a nation on an irreversible journey toward becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, and we must proceed with discipline and focus. Peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the presence of an enabling environment where every Zimbabwean can work, build, and thrive without fear. This is the promise we carry forward, brick by brick, toward a brighter and more secure future for all.
Our nation’s future is not served by endless political squabbles and distractions but by an unwavering focus on the economic well-being of our people. The noise of partisan politics does not build schools, open factories, or put food on the table. We must collectively turn our backs on division and fix our gaze firmly on shared national prosperity. Our commitment is to the hard work of building, not the empty rhetoric of bickering. This means channeling all our energy into achieving Vision 2030, attracting foreign investment, and creating jobs that empower every Zimbabwean family. Let us unite as a people and dedicate ourselves to the task of economic reconstruction because the only debate that matters is the one about progress for all.
The hard-won independence of our nation was built on the principle of self-determination, and it is our solemn duty to ensure that economic prosperity truly benefits every indigenous Zimbabwean. I stand in full support of policies that empower our people to assume their rightful place at the helm of our economic destiny and to build a modern, industrialized, and prosperous Zimbabwe that leaves no one and no place behind.
I am committed to serving our people not from a distance, but right here, at the grassroots. Our party’s strength and vision are best realized not in political headquarters, but in the heart of our communities—in our villages, wards, and neighborhoods.
My pledge is to work hand-in-hand with citizens, listening to their concerns and mobilizing our collective energy to address the day-to-day challenges we face. Development must be tangible and visible at the local level. This means more than just policy; it means on-the-ground action to improve our schools, ensure access to clean water, and empower our local economies.
I will be a voice for the people, ensuring that their needs are at the forefront of our national agenda. The promise of Vision 2030 can only be fulfilled when every community, family, and individual feels its benefits firsthand. Together, we will build our nation, brick by brick, from the ground up.
Our nation’s greatest resource is its young people, and it is our collective duty to invest in their potential to secure our future. I am fully committed to youth empowerment, ensuring they are not just spectators but active architects of our nation’s destiny.
This commitment means more than rhetoric; it means practical, results-oriented action. We must provide robust support for vocational training and skills development, particularly in high-growth sectors like technology, agriculture, and mining. By providing young entrepreneurs with access to credit and resources, we will empower them to create jobs and build sustainable businesses, driving the engine of our economy.
Furthermore, we must create a platform for youth to engage meaningfully in governance and decision-making processes. Their voices, ideas, and energy are vital in shaping our country’s future. By empowering youth, we fulfill the promise of our revolutionary heritage—to create a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a prosperous future for all.
As we move forward on our path toward achieving Vision 2030, our national project is guided by the visionary and dependable leadership of our President and First Secretary, Comrade Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. The strength of our revolutionary mass party, ZANU-PF, lies in its unity and discipline. For that reason, I pledge my full support and loyalty to the party’s leadership and commit to upholding the principles of collective responsibility, discipline, and respect that serve as our ideological and moral compass.
