Early Life and Journalism Career
- 1972: Supa Collins Mandiwanzira was born on September 18 in Nyanga, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).
- He completed his primary education in Nyanga and his secondary education at Nyamauru High School in Mutare.
- He began his journalism career at a local newspaper, The Manica Post, before attending journalism school at Harare Polytechnic.
- After his schooling, he worked for The Herald and then spent five years as a business and financial reporter for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
- He later earned a master’s degree in International Journalism from the City University of London, where he also worked for the BBC, Reuters Financial Television, and as the London correspondent for Summit Television.
- He also served as the Zimbabwe correspondent for SABC and later for Al Jazeera English.
Business Ventures
- Until 2002: He was the managing director of Africa Business Communications.
- 2002: He became the chief executive officer of Mighty Movies.
- He later left Al Jazeera to focus on his various business interests, including civil construction, mining, property development, cinemas, and media production.
- He founded AB Communications, which owns the radio station ZiFM Stereo and the online station ZiTV.
Political Career
- 2013: He won a National Assembly seat for Nyanga South on the ZANU-PF ticket and was appointed Deputy Minister of Media, Information and Publicity.
- 2014: He became the Minister of Information Communication Technology.
- November 2017: His portfolio was reorganized, and he became the Minister of Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security.
- July 2018: He won re-election for his Nyanga South assembly seat.
- September 2018: He was replaced as Minister of ICT and Cyber Security.
