Reyaga Community Project has called on all 3000 foreign nationals working at Rosslyn Industrial Corridor in Pretoria to leave immediately or face unspecified action.

chairperson of the Riyaka Community Project makes the following claims about 3,000 foreigners:

  • He states that over 3,000 foreigners are employed in factories in Roslin [05:12].
  • He insists that these 3,000 foreign workers must leave their jobs and be replaced by unemployed South African youth [05:19].
  • He mentions that they have collected over 30,000 CVs and that the factories should select 3,000 candidates from this pool [05:33].
  • He also warns that if the companies do not respond to their demands, the community will organize a protest [05:50].

Rea Aga went to the hub seeking an update on a memorandum they submitted last month to key stakeholders in the automotive hub.

Two weeks ago thousands of young people from the north western townships of Mabopane, Ga-Rankuwa, Winterveldt and Soshanguve brought the industrial area of Rosslyn to a halt, seeking employment.

They accused companies operating in the area of prioritising the employment of foreign nationals at the expense of locals. They assembled under the banner of Rea Aga Community Projects to vent their frustration. They’ve given companies like Nissan, BMW, Lion Match amongst others seven days to positively reply to their demand for employment.
