Mr Raj Modi, Deputy Minister of Trade and owner of Sai Mart Supermarket in Harare has allegedly failed to pay his employees.
Writing with deep anguish and outrage the Sai Mart employees exposed the shocking and inhumane treatment that they have endured since the sale of Sai Mart to Bhola Supermarket.
The employees have stated that the transition from Choppies to Sai Mart at the beginning of 2025 has brought many problems that they didn’t expect.
They revealed that Harare staff remain unpaid for their August salaries and gratuities carried over from Choppies remain unsettled.
“Adding insult to injury, workers were issued payslips as if they had been paid but no actual money was deposited into our accounts”, the staff complained.
“How is it possible that a worker can receive a payslip without the pay itself?” they added.
The employees have lamanted this inhuman treatment stating that children need to be sent to school, families fed and basic bills paid.
They are appealing to Raji Modi to act immediately and ensure that they are paid their outstanding dues in full.
