Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed the unusual way he finally convinced himself that he was truly wealthy despite being worth billions of dollars at the time.

Dangote, whose fortune once soared beyond $13 billion, said the numbers in his bank account felt unreal until he decided to test it in a very tangible way.

“One day, I went to the bank, wrote a cheque, and cashed out $10 million in cash,” Dangote recounted. “I put it at the back of my car, drove it home myself, opened it up and said Now… I believe I have money.”

For Dangote, the true feeling of wealth came not from billion-dollar valuations, but from the sight of hard cash stacked in his own home.
