A recent event in Mazowe, Zimbabwe, focused on a title deeds handover and the launch of A1 Productivity Booster Kits. The gathering was attended by several high-profile individuals, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Dr. Anxious Masuka, and Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri. The A1 Productivity Booster Kits will be made up of:

Recipients: Under the initial phase, 10,000 A1 farmers will benefit from the program.

Content of the Kits: The kits are essentially irrigation systems. They include “pumping units, electric motors, pumps, hydrants, and sprinklers, among other items.”

Funding: The program is supported by a loan facility. Each participating farmer will receive a loan of US$6,000 to establish the necessary irrigation infrastructure to cover up to three hectares of land.

Nearly US$2 billion will be spent on the booster kits as the program is rolled out across the country over the next few years.

Host and Participants: The event is hosted by Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. In attendance are 14 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from African countries, including Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
