The bodyguard of sungura music legend Alick Macheso, Lloyd Gweshe, has landed in hot water after allegedly assaulting Herald senior political reporter Richard Muponde in Granary Park earlier this month.

The violent incident, which occurred on August 7, left Muponde with severe head injuries and three missing teeth. Witnesses say Gweshe, a trained karate expert, used a knuckle-duster to strike the journalist unconscious.

Muponde has since filed a police report at Marimba Police Station, but more than a week later, no arrest has been made. The lack of action has stirred public anger, with calls mounting for accountability and justice.
