Comedienne and actress Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi, has officially registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) under the film and digital arts category a milestone that underscores her growing footprint in the creative industry.

Her registration reflects a deeper commitment to professionalising her craft and aligning with Zimbabwe’s formal creative sector.

Mai Titi received her certificate during a meeting with NACZ chief executive Napoleon Nyanhi, who commended the increasing number of artists embracing formal structures.

“Over the last six months, many artists have started formalising their craft through registration, granting them validity and viability in professional circles,” said Nyanhi.

He explained that NACZ registration provides legal recognition, access to government support, and opportunities for institutional partnerships. Registered creatives also benefit from workshops, sector forums, and capacity-building initiatives designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

“Registration offers legal recognition and credibility, which is crucial in a competitive industry where professional credibility can open doors to new opportunities,” Nyanhi added.

The development comes at a pivotal time for Mai Titi, as anticipation builds for the premiere of her debut Nollywood feature film, Lost in Ashes, scheduled to launch next month at Westgate Cinemas in Harare.
