Controversial businessman Wicknel Chivhayo marked Zimbabwe’s Heroes Day holiday with an unexpected gesture abroad gifting members of Kenya’s Maasai community $100 each.
While the move drew smiles in Kenya, it sparked a backlash from some Zimbabweans, who accused Chivhayo of misdirecting funds.
Critics argue that “the money being distributed like confetti all over the continent and globe” should instead be used to address pressing needs at home such as stable electricity supply, clean water, food security, modern hospitals, and upgraded schools.
