1. Nthabeleng Likotsi is under investigation by the South African Reserve Bank due to allegations that she may have provided false or misleading information during the application process for YWBN Mutual Bank’s registration. This investigation follows a failed R9 million deal between AFRIBIZ Financial Services and YWBN, where AFRIBIZ paid for a 26% stake in the bank but did not receive the promised shares due to YWBN allegedly failing to meet key regulatory requirements. Instead of issuing the shares, YWBN offered AFRIBIZ only 2% in a “full and final settlement,” which AFRIBIZ rejected, insisting on receiving the full stake they paid for. The Reserve Bank is reviewing whether Likotsi or anyone at YWBN knowingly gave untrue information as part of the bank registration, which is a criminal offense under the Mutual Banks Act.
