Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has strongly condemned the new law requiring Zimbabwean motorists to purchase a radio licence before renewing their vehicle licences.
In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), Chamisa described the law as “too draconian, anti-citizens and outrightly heartless,” criticizing the government for piling financial burdens on struggling citizens.
“So a person who owns a car pays Zinara, ZBC, insurance and toll gate how are people supposed to survive?” Chamisa asked. “Citizens are being pauperized left, right and centre… Why does the citizenry of this country deserve so uncaring and heartless a leadership?”
He further questioned why people should be forced to pay for a public broadcaster that, in his words, spreads “partisan propaganda” and attacks opposition voices.
