Zimbabwe is mourning the passing of Rabson Murombe, a trailblazing athlete and the country’s first marathon runner at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

Born in 1945, Murombe’s passion for running began at Kanchindu Mission School in Zambia and later flourished with Wankie Athletic Club

. His historic Olympic debut saw him finish 56th in the marathon, cementing his legacy in Zimbabwe’s athletics history.

He passed away after a long illness, leaving behind a lasting impact on the sporting community.
