In a significant ruling, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has granted approval for the sale of Shepherd Bushiri’s luxury Bombardier Challenger 604 jet, valued at R50 million.

The decision, issued on April 3, 2025, enables the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to move forward with the sale of the aircraft, which has been stored at Lanseria Airport since the controversial escape of Bushiri and his wife, Mary, from South Africa in 2020.

The couple is currently facing serious charges, including fraud, money laundering, and violations of the Prevention of Organized Crime Act.

The NPA has alleged that the luxury aircraft was acquired through illicit means, raising questions about the source of the funds used for its purchase.

The ruling marks a crucial step in the ongoing legal battle against Bushiri, a self-proclaimed prophet of the Enlightened Christian Gathering, who gained notoriety for his extravagant lifestyle and controversial practices.

The aircraft, a symbol of his wealth, has been at the center of legal scrutiny ever since the couple’s flight from prosecution.

The sale of the jet is expected to contribute to efforts to recover funds associated with the alleged financial crimes perpetrated by Bushiri and his business ventures.

The NPA has expressed its commitment to holding the couple accountable and ensuring that justice is served.
