One of America’s greatest baseball legend Willie Mays has died at the age of 93.

Former US President Barrack Obama took to X to mourn Mays who passed on Tuesday.

“Willie Mays wasn’t just a singular athlete, blessed with an unmatched combination of grace, skill and power. He was also a wonderfully warm and generous person – and an inspiration to an entire generation”, said Obama.

Mays, nicknamed “The Say Hey Kid,” had a professional baseball career that spanned four decades, beginning with the Negro Leagues in the late 1940s and ending with the New York Mets in 1972.

Obama said he is lucky to have spent time with Mays over the years, adding; “Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family”.
