Mnangagwa arrived in New York on 19 September 2026 for the 81st UN General Assembly (UNGA81), themed “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

He leads a high-level delegation and is scheduled to:

• Address the General Assembly on global peace and security.

• Engage in the Zimbabwe Business Forum to boost international trade.

• Advance diplomatic relations ahead of Zimbabwe’s 2027–2028 non-permanent UN Security Council tenure.

The U.S. enforces a 25-mile (40 km) travel restriction around UN Headquarters in Manhattan while respecting international law.

Within this zone, Mnangagwa and his delegation may legally:

• Stay in Manhattan hotels.

• Attend General Assembly sessions at UN Headquarters.

• Participate in official diplomatic and state-sponsored events, including the Zimbabwe Business Forum in Midtown Manhattan.
