A CRY FOR JUSTICE FOR TABETH CHIDZIVA
Our hearts are broken beyond words.
We speak today not just as a family in mourning, but as people shattered by a cruel and senseless act of violence that has taken away our beloved sister, Tabeth Chidziva.
In the quiet, vulnerable hours of the night—between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.—her pregnant daughter was attacked by a group of men near their home in Hillbrow, Johannesburg. She was not only blocked from passing, but violently assaulted… her pregnant body, carrying innocent life, treated with shocking cruelty.
In pain and fear, she ran to her mother.
And like any loving mother would, Tabeth did not hesitate. She rose. She stood up for her child.
She stood up for life.
But instead of justice, she was met with violence.
Instead of accountability, she was met with a bullet.
And just like that… our sister was gone.
Killed for protecting her daughter.
Killed for being a mother.
Killed for standing against wrong.
What kind of world allows a pregnant woman to be beaten… and a mother to be gunned down for defending her?
This is not just our pain.
This is a wound on humanity.
We are grieving. We are angry. We are broken.
But we are also demanding justice.
We refuse to let Tabeth’s life be reduced to silence. We refuse to let this evil pass without consequence. Those responsible must be found. They must answer. They must face the full weight of the law.
To every woman who lives in fear… to every mother who protects her child… this cannot be normal. This cannot be accepted.
Tabeth was love.
Tabeth was strength.
Tabeth was a protector.
And she deserved to live.
We will carry her memory. We will carry her voice. And we will not stop speaking until justice is done.
