A United Kingdom-based group calling itself the “Defenders of Vice President Chiwenga and the Constitution of Zimbabwe (England Branch)” has made serious allegations regarding the safety of Zimbabwe’s Vice President, Retired General Constantino Chiwenga. The group claims that an assassination attempt was planned against Vice President Chiwenga on April 11, 2025, during his visit to Midlands province to light the Independence Flame. The plot allegedly failed, with social media naming Owen Ncube as its spearhead.
The statements accuse President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Owen Ncube of being involved in the assassinations of military generals since 2017 and criticise the government for remaining silent on these deaths while prioritising other inquiries. The group also alleges widespread corruption involving the siphoning of billions in state funds by individuals labelled as philanthropists, specifically naming Wicknell Chivhayo and calling for his immediate arrest. Additionally, they raise human rights concerns over the continued detention of Blessed Mhlanga without bail, urging the courts not to take unlawful orders from the executive.
The group states they do not personally know Vice President Chiwenga but support his anti-corruption efforts and his role in the 2017 “Operation Restore Legacy,” which removed former President Robert Mugabe from power. They warn those plotting against Chiwenga to stop and claim to be monitoring the situation through their own intelligence.

Good morning fellow Zimbabweans, we are deeply concerned about the security of Vice President RTD General Constantino Dominic Nyikadzino Guvheya Chiwenga. On the 11/04/25 Vice President Chiwenga traveled to Midlands province to light the Independence Flame at Mutapa Community Hall Gweru.

There were a group of thugs who had plotted an assassination attempt on him. Social media was also awash with the news that Owen Ncube was spearheading the assassination plot on Vice President Chiwenga but the plot failed.

What worries us most is that the government of Zimbabwe is just silent on these assassinations of Military Generals since 2017 even after the names of those involved have been named. Various Investigators have fingered President Emmerson Munangagwa and Owen Ncube in these assassinations of military Generals but the President have remained quite about these serious allegations. We urge an International independent organisation be appointed to investigate these allegations. President Mnangagwa must be exempted in the appointment of this independent inquiry since he is also cited as an accused person in these assassinations of Military generals who participated in the 2017 operation restore legacy. The President have prioritised to appoint a commission of inquiry to investigate the Harare Town Council while ignoring deaths of Military Generals, this is so disheartening.

We demand the Minister of Home affairs to quickly respond to these allegations. How can a government minister plot to assassinate a Military General like General Chiwenga who sacrificed his life to free this country.

We would like to warn all those plotting the assassination of General Chiwenga to stop it. The anti corruption drive spearheaded by the Vice President Chiwenga have brought panic among the corrupt politicians in Zimbabwe. Vice President Chiwenga have been preaching against corruption since he assumed his position as Vice President.

This massive corruption involves siphoning of billions of state funds which are supposed to be used in critical institutions like the Ministry of health and are being stolen by individuals who are labelled as philanthropist while committing corruption. Corruption must be condemned by all responsible Zimbabweans for the betterment of our country.

We have intelligence of a group of Zanu pf officials who gathered at Precabe Farm last week and made a resolution to assassinate Vice President Chiwenga since they see him as an obstacle to the 2030 mantra of looting the country.

We would like to inform the nation that we’re closely monitoring all the human rights situation in Zimbabwe including the continued detention of Blessed Mhlanga without bail. Bail is a right to every Zimbabwean citizen according section 50(d) of the constitution of Zimbabwe. Courts are urged to act in accordance with the law, not to take unlawful orders from the executive .The state is persecuting innocent Blessed Mhlanga while Wicknell Chivhayo who is currently under investigation by South African Intelligence Centre for money laundering is Scot free and a group of thugs are branding him a philanthropic yet he is busy siphoning state funds. We quickly call for the immediate arrest of Wicknell Chivhayo.

Like we mentioned at the formation of the organisation last week here in Dunstable Luton England ,we clearly stated that we do not personally know Vice President Chiwenga but know him as an Honourable Vice President of Zimbabwe and as the military Commander who led the historic operation restore legacy which ushered in the second Republic after taking over from the late President Mugabe who and his close associates were committing corruption scandals. Vice President Chiwenga evoked section 212 of the constitution of Zimbabwe to crack down on these corruption gangsters who were committing economic corruption. We have also noted that the current corruption scandals happening now are the very circumstances which led to the removal of the late President Mugabe.
