
Dr. Robbie Mupawose was a prominent Zimbabwean agricultural expert, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Lands and Agriculture, and a key figure in post-independence agricultural development, land management, food security frameworks, and the land reform programme. He also chaired institutions like the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), ARDA, and others. He passed away on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at around age 90 after an extended illness.
Mnangagwa issued a statement mourning his passing, describing him as part of a pioneering group of experts who contributed significantly to national development. In recognition of his contributions, the President granted him a state-assisted funeral.
He is survived by his wife (Amai Mupawose) and their children.
