Lungu Appeal To Be Heard On 29 May

The South Africa Supreme Court Of Appeal is set to hear the Lungu family’s appeal over the remains of  the late former Zambian Presidenrt Edgar Lungu on the 29th of May 2026. The Gauteng High Court ruled in favour of the Zambian govt in Aug 2025 but the family argue that the SCA may reach a different conclusion.

  2. If the appeal/application is not to be proceeded with, kindly notify this office and the Registrar of the court a quo immediately.

  3. Parties that wish to have their matters disposed of without oral argument, in terms of s19(a) of the Superior Courts Act 10 of 2013, shall notify the Registrar of that intention immediately after they reach agreement for the Presiding Judge’s decision.
