On 9 July 2026, reports emerged that a massive, gold-bearing rock estimated to weigh over a tonne was unearthed during a local gold rush. Chief Charumbira has now started mining with a group of 20 headman speaking his removal from the Chief’s council as outsiders are clamouring to get their hands on the gold.
Local Headman have asked Mnangagwa to bring back some of the gold from the 1 tonne rock to help the local community.
The Headman said he just saw graders on the mountain and was not consulted when they mined and left with the 1 tonne gold rock.
