Mozambique and Zimbabwe Launch Major Fuel Corridor Expansion

    18

In a significant boost for Southern African energy security, Mozambique and Zimbabwe have officially broken ground on a major expansion of the Beira-Harare fuel corridor. The project, led by Companhia do Pipeline Moรงambique-Zimbabwe (CPMZ), aims to increase the pipeline’s annual transport capacity by 67%, from 3 million to 5 million cubic metres by the end of 2027.

Mozambican President H.E. Daniel Chapo and Zimbabwean President H.E. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa presided over the groundbreaking ceremony. This expansion is set to support growing fuel demand not only in Mozambique and Zimbabwe but also in wider regional markets, including Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The initiative represents a substantial investment in regional energy resilience and underscores the deepening cooperation between Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Construction and commissioning are planned to proceed without interrupting daily pipeline operations or current fuel supplies to the served markets.
