
Two escaped prisoners from Mutimurefu Prison—Tafadzwa Janyure Zimirenyika (27) and James Masunda (34)—are terrorizing residents in Chief Chikwanda’s area.

Armed with machetes, they forced their way into the home of Mediline Mudzingwa (neighbour of Village Head Jacob Moyo), made the occupants lie down, and ransacked the house.

They then hijacked Village Head Jacob Moyo’s Toyota Vitz.

After a high-speed chase, they abandoned the vehicle.

Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incidents and identified the escaped prisoners as the suspects.

Police have issued a public warning not to confront the men, describing them as dangerous, and have mounted large-scale deployments to recapture them.
