The Catholic Archbishop of Harare, Robert Ndlovu, issued a warning stating Gano has no authority to preach, celebrate sacraments, or perform any ministry, and urged the faithful not to recognize him.

Archbishop Robert Christopher Ndlovu made it clear that Gano has never been ordained, has received no theological training from any recognized Catholic institution, and—unlike Catholic priests who take a vow of celibacy—he is, in fact, a married man.
The Archbishop has instructed all parishioners to refuse Gano any opportunity to preach, celebrate Mass, administer sacraments, or perform any church ministry, warning that he has absolutely no authority to do so.
