Victor Kazembe, popularly known as “Coach Rambo,” a well-known Zimbabwean volunteer rescue diver, swimming instructor, and underwater body recovery specialist, was involved in a hit-and-run accident near Norton on Saturday night (around July 11-12, 2026).
According to a witness, Tawanda Honourable Chisasa, Kazembe was riding his bike when he was struck by a Toyota kombi (minibus) in a hit-and-run. Good Samaritans rescued him from the scene and took him to Norton Hospital for treatment.
Kazembe has gained national recognition in Zimbabwe for his heroic volunteer work since around 2008. He specializes in dangerous dive recoveries in rivers, dams, flooded areas, swimming pools, and even sewage/mud-filled pits.
He is a civilian volunteer—a certified PADI scuba diver, swimming instructor, underwater recovery specialist, and passionate biker who responds to emergencies on his own initiative alongside groups like the City of Harare Fire Brigade since 2008.
