Shell has appointed Elohor Aiboni as Executive Vice President and Country Chair Nigeria, succeeding Marno de Jong, who is stepping down after over six years at the helm of Shell in Nigeria.

Outgoing Leader’s Achievements: Under Marno de Jong’s leadership, Nigeria’s flagship Bonga asset delivered strong performance with high availability well above target. He was also instrumental in advancing major investment decisions, including the HI offshore gas project and the Bonga North development.

Incoming Leader’s Historic Role: Elohor Aiboni is the first Nigerian to hold the combined role of Executive Vice President and Country Chair Nigeria.

Extensive Shell Experience: She brings over 24 years of experience within Shell, working across Nigeria’s offshore, shallow-water, and onshore businesses, with international assignments in Kazakhstan and Brunei.

Recent Tenure at SNEPCo: In 2021, she became Managing Director of SNEPCo—the first female to hold that post—where she led the deepwater business and investments; under her leadership, Bonga achieved its 1 billionth barrel of oil in 2023.

Current Role: In 2024, she moved to Brunei, where she currently oversees asset performance, production, and project delivery.

Effective Date: The new appointment takes effect on August 1st, 2026.
