Ronnie Dube In Massive Confrontation With Recalled CCC Councillors

99

A video posted by @Vic_Falls_Live shows a violent outburst during a Victoria Falls City Council meeting in Zimbabwe.

What triggered it
Town Clerk Ronnie Dube read an official letter from Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe recalling three opposition (CCC) councillors. The three named councillors were:

  • Mthunzi Mpofu (Ward 9)
  • Daniel Moyo (Ward 11)
  • Mariya Phiri (proportional representation seat, also referred to in some reports as Mabukwana Ndlovu)

The dispute
The three councillors refused to leave their seats, arguing the recall was illegal because their own party (CCC) had given them no prior notice of expulsion or suspension.

What turned physical
One unnamed councillor (one of the three being recalled) climbed onto the council table, damaged a laptop, and lunged toward Town Clerk Ronnie Dube. Police officers in the chamber restrained him and took him into custody.

Additional context

  • Mayor of Victoria Falls at the time: Prince Thuso Moyo
  • Deputy Mayor: Lungile Nyoni
  • In a separate incident on April 18, 2026, councillor Paulos Chilewete was arrested for allegedly assaulting the mayor (unrelated to the June 4 event).
  • @Vic_Falls_Live noted that a full report on the recalls and legal dispute would follow.

In short
A recalled CCC councillor (name not yet publicly released) physically confronted the town clerk over a disputed ministerial recall order, leading to his arrest.
