Death of husband: Paul Masunda was killed earlier on the same day by another vehicle while crossing the N1 at an informal bus stop used by travelers heading to Zimbabwe.

Death of mother and infant: Beauty Shoperai and her son were fatally struck by an official vehicle belonging to South African Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi while attempting to cross the N1 highway.

Circumstances: Shoperai had boarded a bus to Zimbabwe with her 14-year-old son and infant. After receiving news of her husband’s death, she stopped the bus and was hit by the minister’s vehicle before reaching the scene.

Family response: The victims’ family, including Shoperai’s brother Charles Shoperai, stated they have received no communication from Minister Motsoaledi or his office.
