Nobutaka Maekawa is the current Ambassador of Japan to Zimbabwe. On 26 February 2026, he formally presented his letters of credence to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the State House in Harare.
Appointed to the role in late 2025, succeeding Shinichi Yamanaka. He has since engaged with regional partners such as UNESCO to support programs in disaster risk reduction and digital literacy.
Previously served as the Executive Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), where he led international trade delegations and economic cooperation dialogues with countries including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Egypt.
