2026 JANUARY INTAKE:

RE: APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE FOLLOWING ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AT ZIMBABWE INSTITUTE OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION (ZIWC).

1. BSc (Hon) in Wildlife and Protected Area Management in collaboration with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST):

  • Normal entry: ‘A’ Level pass in either Biology, Agriculture or Geography, Chemistry or Mathematics and any other science or commercial subject.

  • Special entry:

    • a. National Certificate in Wildlife & Fisheries Management (HEXCO) or equivalent, entry at part I.

    • b. National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Wildlife Management (HEXCO) or equivalent (normally to enter at part II).

    • c. Mature entry, 25 years of age at the time of application plus relevant experience in wildlife, forestry or natural resources field. The applicant may be subjected to an interview or any other relevant qualification.

2. Higher National Diploma in Wildlife Management (HEXCO):

  • This is a one and half year course (Full time).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a. National Diploma in Wildlife Management (HEXCO).

3. National Diploma in Wildlife Management (HEXCO):

  • This is a two year course (Full time).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a) National Certificate in Wildlife & Fisheries Management (HEXCO) or any other relevant qualification.

4. National Diploma in Accountancy (HEXCO):

  • This is a two-year course (Full time).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a) National Certificate in Accountancy (HEXCO) or any other relevant qualification.

5. National Diploma in Information Technology (HEXCO):

  • This is a two-year course (Full time).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a) National Certificate in Information Technology (HEXCO).

6. National Certificate in Wildlife & Fisheries Management (HEXCO):

  • This is a one-year course (Full time/Block release).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a. At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and Science.

7. National Certificate in i. Accountancy (HEXCO) / ii. Information Technology (HEXCO):

  • These are one-year courses (Full Time / Block release).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a) At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language and Mathematics.

8. New course* National Certificate in Tourism & Safari Operations Management (HEXCO):

  • This is a one-year course (Full Time / Block release)

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a. At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language.

9. New course* National Certificate in Wildlife Security & Intelligence Studies (HEXCO):

  • This is a one-year course (Full Time / Block release)

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a. At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language.

10. New course* National Certificate in Records Management and Information Science (HEXCO):

  • This is a one-year course (Full Time / Block release).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a. At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language.

10 [sic]. National Foundation Certificate in Wildlife Management (HEXCO):

  • This is a one-year course (Block Release).

  • Admission Requirements:

    • a) At least four years of secondary school education.


Application Procedures

Interested applicants should apply to the Institute directly. The Institute in consultation with Regional Managers / Senior Area Managers will conduct background checks for each applicant before admission. Application fee for HEXCO courses is US$10 and BSc it’s $20, to be deposited in ZIWC Nostro ZB bank details, Bank account 4564-705420-405, Masvingo Branch.

The closing date for receiving applications for the Bachelor of Science programme is 27 February 2026 and the closing date for receiving applications for the HEXCO courses is 28 February 2026.
