Business

In January 2026, the Hyundai Grand i10 has come under significant scrutiny following the release of crash test results from the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) under its #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign.  0 Stars. The vehicle received zero stars due to a high risk of life-threatening injuries. Specifically, the test showed: No Electronic Stability Control (ESC): A critical feature for preventing skids and loss of control. Lack of Side Protection: While it has front airbags, it lacks side-body or head-protection (curtain) airbags. Seat Belt Reminders: Only provided for the driver, leaving other occupants unmonitored. The AA has expressed deep concern, noting that while the car is legal to drive, the results demonstrate “unacceptable shortcomings” in safety for African consumers compared to other global markets.
