Bad news for Namibian fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the internet’s wildest streamer. 📢 American YouTube sensation IShowSpeed (Darren Watkins Jr.) has officially canceled his stop in Namibia.
If you were wondering why the “Speed Does Africa” tour didn’t touch down in Windhoek as planned, we’ve got the full scoop. And spoiler alert: it’s all about the paperwork. 📄🚫
✈️ Grounded Before Arrival
Speed was scheduled to land in Namibia on December 30, 2025, marking the second stop on his massive 28-day African tour. However, the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had to hit the brakes on his private jet. 🛑
According to the NCAA, the permits for the flight were just submitted way too late.
Here is the timeline of the drama:
-
Application Received: Dec 29th at 16:34 🕓
-
Requested Landing: Dec 30th at 03:00 🕒
-
The Problem: That is less than 11 hours notice! 😱
NCAA spokesperson Nelson Ashipala confirmed that processing a foreign operator permit usually takes up to 14 days to coordinate with all the necessary stakeholders. With less than half a day to work with? It was a “Mission Impossible.”
🚁 The Drone Drama
It wasn’t just the jet. Speed’s famous streams rely heavily on high-tech gear, including his mobile Starlink setup and drones to capture the chaos. 🎥📡
The NCAA revealed that no application was submitted for drone operations at all.
In Namibia, the rules are strict:
-
Recreational Drones: Apply 60 days in advance. 🗓️
-
Commercial Drones: Apply 120 days in advance. 🗓️
Without those permits, flying a drone is a huge no-go, especially near airfields or national parks.
🌍 The Tour Goes On
While Namibia is officially a skip (for now), the “Speed Does Africa” tour is still moving! 🏃🏾💨
Speed kicked things off in Angola on December 28th and has already been spotted bringing the energy to South Africa, Mozambique and Eswatini. Currently, he’s tearing it up in Botswana. 🇧🇼🔥
