Judge President Justice Mary Dube has ordered the Mbare Magistrate’s Court to reopen proceedings into the case of popular socialite Chillmaster, who previously walked free with community service after causing a fatal road accident while driving without a licence.
The court has been directed to reassess his culpability and conduct further inquiry within 30 days from the date of the order.
Chillmaster, who pleaded guilty to the offence, had initially avoided a custodial sentence after a relative of the deceased told the court they had “forgiven” him, reportedly based on his promise to take care of the victim’s family and children.
However, it has since emerged that Chillmaster failed to honour the agreement, prompting renewed calls for justice.
