Zimbabwean businessman Wicknel Chivhayo has praised East African leaders President William Ruto of Kenya and President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania following what he described as “deeply humbling and inspirational” meetings during his recent visit to the region.
In a passionate social media post, Chivhayo shared insights from his engagements with both leaders, whom he hailed as visionary figures shaping the continent’s future with bold economic policies and people-centered leadership.
“Meeting with such exceptional leaders who command a mix of humility, intelligence and purpose always leaves me inspired and challenged to think bigger for our continent,” Chivhayo said.
The businessman paid tribute to President Samia’s efforts to transform Tanzania through major infrastructure projects, particularly in hydropower and rural electrification. His visit to her residence in Zanzibar held special spiritual significance, as the island is linked to the history of his religious denomination, Johanne Masowe Chishanu.
He also lauded President Ruto for Kenya’s economic momentum, describing the Kenyan leader as a “pragmatic, prayerful, and reform-driven” head of state who has turned Kenya into one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
Chivhayo said he stands ready to contribute capital and long-term investment partnerships to support economic blueprints like Tanzania’s Vision 2025 and Kenya’s Bottom-Up Agenda.
Drawing a clear political line, he emphasized his preference for engaging with incumbent governments, taking a jab at Zimbabwe’s opposition parties.
“I am a businessman, not a motivational speaker. I want money today, not in 2031,” he wrote, dismissing what he called the “lullabies” of unelected leaders.
