A provincial meeting of Zanu-PF was held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Batanai Primary School in Epworth following the by-election campaign activities. The meeting was convened by the Harare provincial executive to develop a new strategy to secure Kudakwashe Tagwirei’s formal entry into the party’s Central Committee after his earlier ejection from the July 3 meeting due to procedural objections.
The outcome of the meeting involved a plan to create a vacancy within the provincial top six leadership to appoint Tagwirei to that position, which would then enable the province to second him to the Central Committee. This strategic move aims to overcome internal resistance and solidify Tagwirei’s political standing within Zanu-PF. The meeting highlighted ongoing tensions within the party but underscored Tagwirei’s significant financial and political influence as a key ally of Mnangagwa.
