WATCH LIVE as Gambakwe looks at today’s sentencing of 18 year old Succeed Mukaro who has been sentenced for allegedly stealing phones at Chiwenga’s shop.

– Succeed did not confess to stealing the phones, only fingerprints were used

FACTS

1. Succeed Mukaro has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing cellphones valued at over US$15 000 from a shop owned by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife, Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga.

2. This comes after he pleaded guilty to the charges of unlawful entry.

3. During the sentencing, presiding magistrate Mrs Ethel Chichera initially imposed a five-year sentence but suspended two years on the condition of good behaviour.

4. An additional year was set aside contingent upon restitution.

5. Mukaro was arrested at Joina City Mall while accompanied by his brother, Sydney. More stolen phones were recovered from Mukaro.

Police conducted further investigations and recovered more phones from Mukaro’s residence in Domboshava.

Fingerprint analysis confirmed Mukaro’s presence at the crime scene.
