In a rare and candid public statement, the Minister of Youth Machakaire has voiced deep concern over the state of the nation’s public healthcare institutions.
The Minister’s remarks, posted on social media, follow a personal visit to a public health facility to see a relative, an experience he described as “deeply moving.”
Minister post highlights the stark realities faced by many citizens, stating that what he witnessed was a “clear indication that many of our people are facing serious challenges.”
He affirmed that the growing public outcry over the healthcare system is “not an exaggeration” and accurately reflects the “difficult experiences of many citizens.”
In a direct appeal to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Minister Machakaire lauded the President’s compassion, humility, and dedication to the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Recognizing the trust placed in the President’s care for the people, he respectfully pleaded with him to “find time from your busy schedule to visit these institutions yourself.” The Minister stressed that “there is no substitute for seeing, listening and understanding firsthand what our citizens are going through.”
