At least 22people died in a fatal accident at the 28km peg along the Bulawayo-Gwanda highway in the wee hours of this morning.
The accident involved a Toyota Quantum and a haulage truck and all 22 people in the Quantum perished at the scene.
The haulage truck driver was seriously injured and admitted at United Bulawayo Hospitals.
Reports are that the Quantum was coming from Bulawayo whilst the Haulage Truck was going towards Bulawayo.
The haulage truck was trying to overtake another vehicle and then the driver upon realizing the danger swerved to the right this resulted in the Quantum being hit in the middle and it fell on its left side with the wheels facing the bushes next to the Esigodini- Bulawayo lane.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to UBH and Mpilo Hospitals with each taking 11 bodies.
