
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has officially appointed Simbarashe Tongayi as its new Chief Elections Officer, with his tenure commencing on April 1, 2025.
Tongayi has been serving in an acting capacity since December 2024 and previously held the position of Deputy CEO in charge of Administration.
According to ZEC, Tongayi brings a wealth of experience in public administration and election management, having worked on regional and international elections.
His expertise is expected to drive the commission towards achieving its long-term objectives.
Prior to joining ZEC, Tongayi worked as the General Manager of Human Resources and Administration for the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission.
He also spent over a decade at the Public Service Commission secretariat, where he held various roles, including Deputy Manager and District Human Resources Manager.
