Despite their already low remuneration, the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) reportedly plans to deduct US$10 monthly from civil servants’ salaries.

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has condemned the move as unfortunate, unfair, and unlawful.

Backdated to January 2024, the deductions will further reduce civil servants’ salaries, which have not been adjusted to reflect pre-2018 purchasing power parity.

The PTUZ has urged the Public Service Commission to stop the deductions, calling them a clear fraud and a violation of labor laws.
