Harare West legislator Joana Mamombe has announced her decision to step down from her parliamentary position, citing recent developments in parliament as the reason.

Last week, Sengezo Tshabangu was announced the leader of the opposition and Chairperson of the Environmental Committee, a move Mamombe has publicly rejected.

Mamombe, appointed by former Citizens Coalition for Change president Nelson Chamisa in October 2023, has pledged her loyalty to Chamisa and denounced Tshabangu as an imposter.

In her statement, Mamombe said a formal rejection letter will be submitted to Parliament.
