Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has thrown firey darts at the Ministry of Local Governance over the disapproval of the council’s 2024 budget, stating that the issue is more political than factual.

Speaking to Harare residents at an event organized by the Harare Residents Trust and Combined Harare Residents Association, Mafume said the council is monitored by “losers who want to further their political aspirations by suppressing the ratepayers.”

Mafume further revealed that the council is still functioning with the 2023 budget, which has negatively impacted the quality of services provided to Harare residents.
