Zimbabwean man shot dead by a SA soldier in Limpopo

Ezra Tshisa Sibanda reports that a Zimbabwean man Mduduzi Mbulelo Mlilo was shot dead by a South African soldier in Maroi Area Limpopo River on Sunday afternoon while attempting to illegally cross the river.

Mbulelo,23, was plying the SA/Zim border carrying goods using an illegal man-made boat on the 2nd of April when the soldier allegedly opened fire and shot him on the chest.

Mduduzi lived in Emakakavhule, Beitbridge area. He was pronounced dead by paramedics called to the scene.

The soldier was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday but the family is yet to be updated on what transpired in court.

The relatives believe South African defence forces are trying to cover up for the murder and have tried to push the family to take the body of the deceased for burial in Zim as a matter of urgency.

The family is asking for donations to do a private post-mortem in Musina for R7000.
