Today Zimbabwe commemorates Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day, observed annually on 21 February, to honour the late President’s birthday.

Official celebrations led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be held in Lupane, Matabeleland North province.

There is also a shadowy 21st February Movement which began in 1986 named after his birthday.

He is one of the leading figures of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle who sacrificed a lot for the country’s independence in the 1960s and 1970s.

Also the main airport in Harare and many roads across the country are named after Mugabe .
