The South African police have been given the right to spot check foreigners by the South African African Home affairs to check whether they were legal in the country.
Aaron Motsoaledi was briefing the home affairs committee on permit appeals for asylum seekers and refugees.
According to NewsReport, Motsoaledi said Zimbabweans did not bother to apply for visas after Zimbabwean exception permits were extended.
