South African based Zimbabwean businessman and former NSSA chairman, Robin Vela (50), has shocked Zimbabweans after details of his extravagant birthday bash were revealed.

According to South African newspaper, CITY PRESS, Vela spent over US$2 million on his birthday. Vela told the newspaper that he was planning his birthday for five years.

Vela invited 1200 guests from the Dubai, UK, Zimbabwe and South Africa at his exclusive birthday bash that was held at Sun City.

The expenses on his birthday included:

  1. R6 509 426 on bookings, accommodation and flights for American Grammy award winning RnB singer, Joe Thomas.
  2. American group, Sisters with voices.
  3. Booking of the whole Sun City Super Bowl.
  4. Booking of three hotels Soho, Cascades and Palace of the lost city to accommodate 1200 guests.
  5. Tour of Cape town for 150 people.
  6. MCs fees for David Kau and Minnie Dlamini.
  7. Decor by Thamaga Mazibuko.
  8. Other musicians, Bongo Maffin, Zahara, Micasa, Dr Tumi, and Ndlovu youth choir.
