The Herald reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared late Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) logistics director Brigadier-General Charles Kaneta a national hero.
Kaneta died on Saturday after collapsing while at his farm in Nyanga. He was rushed to Hauna hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.
In a statement Monday evening, President Mnangagwa said the death of Kaneta came as a shock as he showed no signs of ill-health and was on a routine visit to his rural home in Honde.
He described the late general as a tough and brilliant military instructor through whose hands passed many cadres.
