The Sowetan reports that the Lesotho government has distanced itself from the Mdlalose’s tavern mass murder case in South Africa.

This comes after five of the suspects from the shooting incident were identified as Lesotho nationals.

The suspects allegedly fled to Lesotho after committing the heinous crime.

The government said it has not been approached by South African law enforcement agencies regarding the suspects in the shooting.

It indicated that it will assist if suspected killers are hiding in the country.

In July a group of investigators from SAPS travelled to Lesotho with warrants of arrests, hoping to engage Lesotho police to effect the arrest and hand over the suspects at the Maseru border.

Majority of the people that were killed at the scene were from KwaZulu-Natal, only one Lesotho national was among them.

The motive for the killing is not yet known.
