The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has responded to the complaint raised by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) over nomination fees.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere says the party invoked constitutional complaints mechanism to challenge the exorbitant nomination and voters’ roll fees gazetted by ZEC.

In a letter dated 29 August 2022, ZEC deputy chairperson said the Commission will deliberate upon the issue and revert back to the party.

ZEC recently gazetted candidate nomination fees in Statutory Instrument (SI) 144 of 2022, saying aspiring presidential, Members of Parliaments, councillors and those gunning for Senate will pay US$20 000, US$1000 and US$200 respectively.
